The presidental campaign was evidentally an educational experience for Michelle Obama. First, it finally made her proud of her country for the first time. Secondly, she decided, if her husband was elected president, military families would be her cause.

She made her first trip outside Washington as first lady last Thursday to Fort Bragg, N.C. where she visited with military families.

“Our soldiers and their families have done their duty. They do it without complaint. And we as a grateful nation must do ours and do everything in our power to honor them by supporting them,” she said at the Fort Bragg Community Center.

Absolutely True!!

Except, I question her words!

Are they a smoke screen, a slight of hand to divert our attention from the abominable policies being considered by her husband? While she is praising our military and the MSM is focused on her with sweetness and light, he is proposing a plan that would force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries.

Our veterans are our nation’s heroes. They answer the call when our country needs them the most. They serve their country with pride, honor,and courage. For their sacrifice and their service we DO owe them a debt of genuine gratitude. Not merely lip service designed to garner votes or to erect a facade of support.

A policy like this would amount to a betrayal to our troops.

So, if it’s your inclination to spit on a soldier, you will need to stand in line behind the President.

On Monday, Obama signed an executive order lifting the executive order that President Bush signed in 2001 that prohibited federal funding of stem cell research that required the killing of new embryos.

He said the purpose of his order is to remove limitations so that America’s scientists could explore human stem cells in the hopes of finding new discoveries and new therapies for the benefit of humankind.

Fast forward to yesterday, Wednesday. Obama signed H.R. 1105, the “Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009.

The text of Section 509 of the Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009, reads as follows:

SEC. 509. (a) None of the funds made available in this Act may be used for—
(1) the creation of a human embryo or embryos for research purposes; or
(2) research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death greater than that allowed for research on fetuses in utero under 45 CFR 46.204(b) and section 498(b) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 289g(b)). (b) For purposes of this section, the term ‘‘human embryo or embryos’’ includes any organism, not protected as a human subject under 45 CFR 46 as of the date of the enactment of this Act, that is derived by fertilization, parthenogenesis, cloning, or any other means from one or more human gametes or human diploid cells.

Huh?

Is this just another example of Obama’s slight of hand; saying one thing publicly to keep the kudos coming while doing something entirely different in private…another example of his words not matching his deeds?

Did he really not know what he was signing?
